The Story Behind Suubi Darlings

As most of you know, my good friend Kelly, and I have started a new boutique on Etsy, called Suubi Darlings. You can think of this blog post as the show, Behind the Music on VH1 or E! True Hollywood Story because its about to get real!

Almost 10 years ago, Kelly and I started working for a lady and her husband, Dr. and Mrs. Thomason. They hired us along with a couple of other people (Even Kelly's Hubby) to work for them, picking blueberries, planting flowers, wrapping Christmas gifts, running errands, cleaning her beach and mountain house's. You name it, we did it! It was the best job ever and we became instant friends! Fast forward 7 years, Kelly and I got married a week apart, both moved to different states shortly after and both moved back to NC around the same time 2 years later.

Kelly and her husband Ricky have been to Uganda two different times on mission trips and have met and become friends with a pastor and his wife and their children who live in Kampala, Uganda. Kelly saw these women in Uganda, poor with children and needing a way to provide. She also saw this beautiful jewelry that they would make but have no way of selling enough of it to really make a profit. When she came home she brought some of the pieces with her and found that people loved how unique and beautiful it was. She knew that if she could some how start a company here in America, selling this jewelry for these women, she would in turn be able to give back to these women in this community, where she left her heart, not once, but twice.

I on the other hand, have never met these women, and never been to Uganda, but I have a passion for helping others. I have a passion for seeing other women succeed in life, start businesses where they can stay home with their children, and be able to do exactly what they love! I love all things beauty, fashion, and blogging but I know that who someone is on the inside is what makes them beautiful!I too saw Kelly's beautiful jewelry and heard her story. Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to have my own boutique. It has been on my heart hardcore for the past year or so, to just do it!

So after a few coffee dates and Target runs later, Kelly and I decided it was only right that we start this new adventure. We came up with the name Suubi Darlings because Suubi is the Ugandan word for Hope, that's what we are striving to give these women. And Darlings, well because were from the south. We want to make this a boutique where you can get fashion forward, unique, beautiful handmade pieces of jewelry, while giving back to a community that so desperately needs help. It is our goal to be able to eventually have a group of people living in Uganda, working first hand with these women, teaching them and helping them grow closer to God. We want to be able to spread love, hope, awareness all while giving God all the glory, because he is the one who truly deserves it. And that is the story behind Suubi!

Casual Floral

When I found this little peplum floral shirt at Forever 21 the other day, I fell in love! Florals are so in right now, and I have been on the hunt to find myself a new shirt! Peplum shirts always flatter my body structure so well, seeing as how God blessed me with birthing hips the size of Montana, and a small waist. And y'all I rated the jewelry section at Forever! Everything I got was under $5! I know it will only probably last a couple of times before it breaks or turns, but its worth it to me! I actually have a couple pairs of earrings from there, that I have had for years and they still look great! Brian gets so annoyed with me because I like to spend little amounts of money, lots of times, and he thinks I should just save and buy myself something nice, one time. Ain't nobody got time for that! I'm way too impatient to save money! Anywho I'm so excited for tomorrow!! Brian and I both have the day off, which never happens, and we are going to Speed Street with a couple of our friends!!! Bring on the weekend!!

Hey pretty girls!! I hope y'all are having a great week! I have been super busy with work, our house, my new business Suubi Darlings, and just everyday life! With not much time to get ready in  the morning, I need an easy make-up routine, that takes me less than 10 minutes. These products are what I use every single morning and without a doubt are my favorite, go-to beauty products!

If you have not tried the Benefit "Porefessional" it is an amazing primer, that helps to blur out imperfections, minimize pores, and helps your make-up last longer! The Stila liquid eyeliner, is probably the best I have ever used! Side note: It's our most sold eyeliner at Sephora, The! And my favorite product out of all of these is my Urban Decay "Sin" eye shadow primer! I love it because it's beautiful by itself. You don't even have to wear an eye shadow with it, for those mornings your really in a hurry!

I love finding new products to use, so if you have a favorite, please share!! Have a great Humpday, smile, and stay beautiful!!

It's time for 5 on Friday!!

It's Friday y'all!! We made it to the weekend!! I'm linking up to do 5 on Friday today!!

1. House Update: Brian and I have FINALLY picked out our paint colors for our new house!!! We FINALLY have a closing date of June 19, and they are FINALLY starting to work on the inside! We have all of our crown molding up, the fireplace is in, and they are starting to paint all the walls!! You just have no idea how excited we are!!
This is a terrible picture of the colors we choose!!
And this is an updated picture of our house!

2. Old Navy has the cutest pair of sandals for like less than $30! This is going to sound a little cray, but my mother-in-law has them, and every time she wears them, I swear they look sooooooo good!! I have to get these beauties!!!

3. I have been really into painting my nails lately! I used to hate it, because ain't nobody got time to sit and let them dry, but now that I work at Sephora, I've got plenty of time for that on my lunch break! These are some of my favorite colors!!

4. I love a good Margarita! It's my favorite drink, especially on a hot day in the middle of summer, sitting by the pool, listening to Country music!!! If y'all have a good recipe, please share! I want to try and make different flavors and concoctions!!

5. This number 5 is super exciting and close to my heart! It's been my big secret that I'm going to reveal very soon to all social media!! No I'm not preggers. I will say, that my very dear friend and I are starting a business that is going to be able to bless so many people and I couldn't be more excited!!!

Love y'all!! Have a great weekend!!!!

Prada Candy Florale

Hello my little rays of sunshine!! I hope y'all are having a fabulous week! This past weekend, I got the privilege of going to Greenville SC for fragrance training with Sephora! I learned alot about the different notes of a fragrance and got introduced to the NEW Prada Candy Florale!!! It hasn't even come out in most stores yet, and I got to take a bottle home!! Talk about love at first smell! Most of you know all about the original Prada Candy which is an overload, in a good way, of Caramel and Benzoin! This new Florale has the same base notes of the Caramel and Benzoin but is much lighter, more fresh, super girly and perfect for Sunday brunch or a date night out on the patio! I had to take a quiz to see which Prada girl I was, and y'all, quizzes don't lie, I was a Florale! They said I was a dreamer, and free spirit. I love spending time with myself daydreaming and imagining how I will use my sensuality and flirty side! I'm blushing a little, but that sure does sum me up!! You have to smell this this beautiful new scent!!
